November 10, 2025 – Walnut, CA
The journey of this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree has officially begun. A specially designed Kenworth T680 will transport the 2025 tree—nicknamed “Silver Belle”—from Nevada’s Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This marks Kenworth’s 12th consecutive year supporting this beloved national tradition.
The 53-foot red fir was selected to represent Nevada’s rich natural beauty and will travel more than 3,000 miles across the country. To celebrate the state’s unique landscape, the truck features a one-of-a-kind wrap called “Spirit of the Silver State,” inspired by Nevada’s sunsets and forest scenes.
The tree’s journey began during the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City on November 1 and will continue with multiple public events along the route, allowing communities to see the tree up close before it reaches Washington, D.C., on November 20. The official lighting ceremony will take place in early December.
Powered by a PACCAR MX-13 engine, PACCAR TX-12 transmission, and PACCAR DX-40 rear axles, the Kenworth T680 also includes a 76-inch sleeper, Diamond VIT interior, heated and cooled GT703 Ultraleather seats, and advanced safety features like Kenworth’s Digital Vision system and Bendix Fusion adaptive cruise control. These technologies ensure maximum comfort, reliability, and safety throughout the cross-country trip.
For the second year in a row, Kenworth TruckTech+ connectivity will provide real-time GPS tracking of the tree’s progress, allowing people across the nation to follow “Silver Belle” online through the official U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree website.
This year’s transport is managed by Knight-Swift Transportation, with driver Michael Porter from the Swift Phoenix terminal at the wheel. Southwest Airlines will also play a role, delivering thousands of handmade ornaments crafted by Nevada residents to decorate the tree in Washington, D.C.
Beyond the logistics, the Capitol Christmas Tree program is a celebration of community, craftsmanship, and connection. Each stop along the route offers an opportunity for the public to participate—signing banners, contributing ornaments, and sharing in the spirit of the season.
“It’s more than just a delivery,” said a spokesperson from the program. “It’s about bringing people together across the country and celebrating the beauty and resilience of America’s forests.”
